Social Media

 

Social media is fast becoming the first avenue for sharing pertinent information with our SAC family and is a key resource for prospective students to get a glimpse into campus culture. SAC's Office of Marketing & Strategic Communications oversees the college's official social media channels and the social media guidelines that represent the institution as a whole. MarComm also serves as a resource for members of the campus community who have questions or need guidance on social media best practices. 

We welcome collaborations with the departments and areas on campus that have assessed their communications goals and chosen to engage in social media to build and sustain a shared vision across the institution.

Using Your Account

Social media communications tools may be used for official San Antonio College business, such as:

  • Marketing to potential students
  • Communicating with prospective and current students, alumni, and employees
  • Educating the public about SAC and its mission, programs, and events
  • Conveying emergency communications

What Social Media Can Accomplish

  • Engage audiences in new, interactive, and flexible ways
  • Integrate part of the college's overall communications strategy
  • Increase the prominence of SAC and its departments
  • Create a forum for conversations about a wide range of topics

Account Basics

  • If you're confident one or more social media accounts would be a good fit for your department, program, or other related entity, read our SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES and submit a REGISTRATION FORM to be considered for recognition by the college and listed in the SOCIAL MEDIA DIRECTORY.

    if you're new to social media or you're not sure if you or your department would benefit from creating one or more accounts on popular channels, contact MarComm to discuss what strategy would fit you best.

  • If you are a SAC college, department, or organization we encourage you to use our social media brand specific icons and avatars. Below are examples. Need to update your avatar for social media? Email: sac-marcomm@alamo.edu

    After submitting the social media registration form, the Office of Marketing and Strategic Communications will create and provide you with an official social media profile picture. 

    Departments/Programs/Centers are unable to use the San Antonio College "SAC” by itself in any format on social media. The profile picture used should be consistent across all platforms as to be easily recognizable for your audience.

  • Have an event, activity or organization we should cover? SEND US THE SCOOP!

    • Email sac-marcomm@alamo.edu with exact wording, links and graphics to go along with post
    • Specify on which platform you would like posted (Facebook, Instagram, X, Youtube, LinkedIn)
    • Specify what date you would like your information posted
    • Give plenty of notice so we can do our best to accomodate your request
    • All posts much be approved by Marketing leadership. Posts must be relevant to a large audience and relate to SAC.
