Vice President for Academic Success
Dr. Cassie Rincones earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and holds a Master of Arts degree in Politics and History from the same institution. Rincones also earned a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University specializing in U.S./Comparative Border Studies, the first Chicana to earn a PhD in History from Texas A&M University. She began her career as an History instructor at South Texas College teaching U.S. and Mexican American history and then transitioned to an Associate Professor of History position at Lone Star College-Kingwood (LSCK). In 2016, she began her career in administration, serving as Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities at LSCK and would later serve as Interim Vice President of Student Success. She went on to serve as the inaugural Hispanic-Serving Institution Director at Texas A&M University in College Station before arriving at San Antonio College.
Dr. Rincones is a current Texas Academic Leadership Academy Fellow (2024), a National Community College Hispanic Council Fellow (2024), and was awarded the TACHE Mentor of the Year (2022). In addition, she was awarded the Catarino and Evangelina Hernández Research Fellowship in Latino History, the Race and Ethnic Studies Institute Fellow Award by Texas A&M University, and the distinguished Chancellor’s Dissertation Research Grant by Lone Star College. She is also an inaugural Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE) Career Leadership Development Institute fellow (2019) and currently serves as the Chair of the Tache Outstanding Book Award Committee.
Dr. Rincones is a proven higher education leader with comprehensive experience in administration, instructional program planning and assessment, enrollment and retention, faculty affairs, staff and faculty mentoring, Dual Credit programming, and academic initiatives. She has extensive experience teaching U.S. History, Texas history, and Mexican American history courses and specializes in 18th and 19th century Tejana history. Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Dr. Rincones has a passion for helping students from marginalized and minoritized backgrounds.
