Graduate Spotlight: Michael Good
December 10, 2019
Meet Michael, he will be receiving an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Construction Technology. Michael previously worked as a Child Protective Services Investigator and also spent time as a Parole Officer. His previous professions motivated him to explore other avenues where he could continue to have an impact on the community. Michael previously received an A.A.S. in Automotive Technology from SPC in December 2017. He later enrolled in the Construction Technology Program after learning about the opportunities available to graduates. Throughout his time at SPC, Michael has received several scholarships from the Greater San Antonio Builders Association, National Association of Home Builders and the Texas Builders Foundation. He also participated in the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Student Chapter where he assisted in various projects in the community. “My participation in the NAHB was a turning point in my education. I enjoyed the program however, I gained so much more out of it when I became involved in a student organization,” he said. |
His involvement in NAHB led him to attend the International Builders' Show that took place in Las Vegas in February. During the event, he was provided “an opportunity of a lifetime”. While meeting industry professionals, Michael was offered a job from Michael Biggerstaff, President of Biggerstaff Homes and chairman of the Texas Builders Foundation Board of Trustees.
“Being able to graduate is a benchmark, now it’s on to the real world. I hope to become a home builder and continue to serve my community with my work,” said Michael. He plans to begin the position with Texas Builders Foundation in 2020.
