William R. Sinkin Eco Centro
William R. Sinkin Eco Centro is a community and environmental sustainability center at San Antonio College that provides information and resources to positively address environmental and social challenges. Through education, outreach, service and research, we strive to create pathways towards more sustainable communities and built environments where all are empowered to succeed.
The LEED-certified, 3,000+ square foot facility serves as an example of sustainable building with a solar-photovoltaic system connected to 135 roof-mounted solar panels, a 2,700- gallon water catchment tank and five 40-gallon tanks, water-wise landscaping, four electric vehicle charging stations, and large composting and gardening areas.
As it grows, Eco Centro has launched and manages Garcia Street Urban Farm, a four-acre urban farm project in partnership with San Antonio Housing Authority.
