Compliance: Principles of Excellence – EO 13607 and DOD MOU
San Antonio College follows federal guidelines to ensure transparency and fairness in education for military-affiliated students.
Executive Order 13607
San Antonio College is a signatory to Presidential Executive Order 13607, which establishes Principles of Excellence for educational institutions serving military members, veterans, spouses, and dependents. These principles ensure that postsecondary institutions provide clear information about educational benefits and career pathways.
You may be eligible for education benefits if you meet one of the following criteria:
-
Active Duty Veterans: You may qualify for VA education benefits, such as the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, which covers tuition and related expenses for individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service after September 10, 2001. Individuals discharged due to a service-connected disability after 30 days may also qualify. An honorable discharge is required.
-
Current Military Service Members: You may qualify for Department of Defense Tuition Assistance. Contact your service branch to check your eligibility.
-
Spouses & Children of Active Duty Service Members: If your service member is currently on active duty in paygrades E1-E5, O1-O2, or W1-W2, you may be eligible for financial assistance from the Department of Defense (MyCAA) for education, training, or professional licenses.
-
Transfer of Benefits: Spouses and children of service members may be eligible to receive transferred Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits.
Department of Defense Memorandum of Understanding (DOD MOU)
San Antonio College abides by the DOD MOU to ensure ethical recruitment and student financial aid practices:
-
The college does not offer commissions, bonuses, or incentives to individuals involved in recruiting or making financial aid decisions.
-
San Antonio College refrains from high-pressure recruitment tactics, such as multiple unsolicited contacts (3 or more) or same-day registration and enrollment for military-affiliated students.
