Alyssa Manigault

Alyssa Manigault is a versatile choreographer, dancer, and teacher, whose work spans a variety of dance styles including hip-hop, jazz, modern, and contemporary. Like many dancers, Alyssa found her passion for dance at a young age and it was expressed in her hometown church in Charleston, South Carolina around the age of 5. Alyssa continued her dance education training through high school and junior college. Where she attended Northwest Vista College under the direction of Jane King and Brittany Lopez. As her time at vista began to end Alyssa continued her undergraduate studies at Texas State University graduating with a BFA in Performance and Choreography in 2023. During her time at Texas State Alyssa was a member of the university’s Merge Dance Company and Orchesis Dance Company. She also led IBA hip-hop workshops, choreographed multiple pieces, and performed in numerous showcases.

Alyssa has extensive teaching experience, having instructed at several dance studios in the San Antonio area, such as Stone Oak Dance Academy and Adrenaline Dance Studio. She has also worked with high school drill teams, like St. Memorial High School, and hosted masterclasses at local and non- local schools/studios like John Bosco Middle School in San Antonio as well as Dance Discovery and Avery Ranch Music and Dance in Austin, TX.

Currently, Alyssa teaches contemporary dance at Countdown Dance Studio in San Antonio, where she also competed on their adult hip-hop team. She has had the opportunity to perform and compete in prestigious events like Soundbox’s Summer Meltdown and World of Dance (WOD) 2024 in Houston. Alyssa is passionate about the creative process and enjoys watching stories unfold through choreography. She continues to pursue her career as a freelance choreographer, teaching workshops, masterclasses, and setting choreography for various dance companies, schools, and studios.
