The Amazing, Fabulous and Spectacular Untruths of Juan Garcia, written by Kathleen Culebro is a very new adaptation of a very old play, La Verdad Sospechosa, written in the 17th century by Mexican playwright Juan Ruiz de Alarcon. Ms. Culebro has taken many liberties with this story, updating it for a modern audience, and empowering the women characters in ways the original certainly does not. It is for this reason I chose this adaptation over a more traditional translation. She states in her script notes, "The location is Oaxaca. That's all we know for sure. Maybe this play takes place in the 1600s. Maybe not... ..Anachronisms are strongly encouraged." We have taken this encouragement and run with it. We wish to honor the vibrant culture of Oaxaca and to entertain our modern American audience - you.

Join us and attend our production - only the second-ever production of this fun and funny play!
