Alamo Colleges District Celebrates Grand Opening of Welcome Center at ACCESS

The Alamo Colleges District is proud to introduce a new resource for the community – the Welcome Center at ACCESS, a dedicated space designed to connect individuals with the many opportunities available across the district’s five colleges and programs.The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new 7,000-square-foot space took place on March 5, 2025, at the ACCESS Building, located just north of downtown San Antonio, at 2222 N. Alamo St.
The new Welcome Center at ACCESS is a place where anyone in our community – whether they are a first-time student, a returning learner, or someone seeking a new career path – can take the first step toward achieving their educational goals,” said Dr. Mike Flores, Alamo Colleges District Chancellor. This center reflects our district's commitment to our moonshot by removing barriers and ensuring everyone has access to higher education.”
Another Destination for Future Students
The Welcome Center at ACCESS joins other welcome centers across the district's five colleges and is designed to support individuals at every stage of their educational journey.
The space will provide hands-on assistance, whether they are exploring career options, applying to college, or completing enrollment steps.
Services offered at the new Welcome Center include:
- Career and program exploration – Learn about academic programs and career pathways.
- Applying to college – Get help with the application process.
- Completing enrollment steps – Receive guidance on placement tests, orientation, and advising.
- Paying for college – Explore financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
- Academic and student support services – Connect with resources to support student success.
- GED/High School Equivalency Program – Take steps to earn a high school diploma.
- English as a Second Language (ESL) Program – Improve English skills for academic and career advancement.
The Welcome Center at ACCESS will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
